The Indian Maritime University (IMU), Chennai Campus, a Central University under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India, is a premier institution dedicated to maritime education, training, and research. IMU offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in marine engineering, nautical science, port and shipping management, and other allied disciplines. IMU invites applications from eligible candidates for various Faculty positions on a contract basis in disciplines including Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Logistics & SCM, and General Management.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience (Post-wise)

1. Faculty (Marine)

• Essential:

  • MEO Class – 1 (Motor) Certificate by DGS

  • Min. 6 months sailing at Management level as per STCW

  • VICT/TOTA Certificate

• Desirable:

  • 6 months teaching experience in Maritime Institutes

  • AECS and TSTA Course Certificate

2. Faculty (ECE)

• Essential:

  • UG in EEE/ECE

  • PG in Electronics or related discipline

  • PLC and Automation Control subject in UG/PG

  • VICT/TOTA Certificate

• Desirable:

  • NET/SLET/SET qualified

  • AECS and TSTA Certificates

  • UGC-compliant Research Publications

• Experience: Minimum 2 years teaching at UG/PG level

3. Faculty (Mathematics)

• Essential:

  • 55% marks or equivalent grade in UG and PG/Integrated PG in relevant subject

• Desirable:

  • NET/SLET/SET qualified

  • Ph.D. and relevant research publications

• Experience: Minimum 2 years teaching at UG/PG level

4. Faculty (Nautical Science)

• Essential:

  • Master (FG) CoC recognized by DGS

  • Min. 6 months sailing at Management level (STCW)

  • VICT/TOTA Certificate

• Desirable:

  • 6 months teaching experience in Maritime Institutes

  • TSTA Certificate

5. Faculty (Logistics & SCM)

• Essential:

  • UG (55%) + MBA/M.Com in Logistics/SCM/Transportation/Intl. Business

• Desirable:

  • NET/SLET/SET, Ph.D., Research Publications

• Experience: Minimum 2 years teaching at UG/PG level

6. Faculty (General Management)

• Essential:

  • UG (55%) + MBA/M.Com in General Management with Marketing

• Desirable:

  • NET/SLET/SET, Ph.D., Research Publications

• Experience: Minimum 2 years teaching at UG/PG level

7. Faculty (Computer Science – Computer Language & E-Commerce)

• Essential:

  • UG (55%) + MCA/M.Tech/M.Sc. in CS/IT

• Desirable:

  • NET/SLET/SET, Ph.D., Research Publications

• Experience: Minimum 2 years teaching at UG/PG level

Contract Period

• Initially for 6 months, extendable based on performance and institutional requirements.
