Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) is a statutory body constituted by the Ministry of Power, Government of India. JERC is responsible for regulating the electricity sector for the State of Goa and Union Territories, ensuring fair practices, transparent tariff structures, and compliance with the Electricity Act, 2003. The Commission plays a key role in the power sector by issuing regulations, orders, and adjudicating disputes under its jurisdiction. The Commission invites qualified legal professionals for contractual engagement to support its legal functions.

Job Details:

• Post Name: Research Officer / Consultant (Law)

• Number of Vacancies: 01 (One)

• Consolidated Professional Fee: Rs. 55,000 to Rs. 90,000 per month (Consolidated Fee, excluding taxes)

• Minimum Educational Qualification: Bachelor Degree in Law from a reputed institution/university or equivalent

• Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years up to 10 years of experience in the legal field

  • Knowledge and experience in drafting orders, regulations, petitions, replies, rejoinders, notices, cause lists for appeals/writ petitions, etc.

  • Desirable: Experience in Power Sector, knowledge of Electricity Act 2003, regulatory framework of electricity sector, functioning of Electricity Regulatory Commissions & APTEL, National Electricity Policy and Tariff Policy of India.

Contractual Terms

• Working hours: 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday (with half-hour lunch break)

• Leaves: 18 days per calendar year on a pro-rata basis

• Absence beyond entitled leave will be without professional fees

• Travel reimbursement as per Commission norms

• Contract duration: Initially one year, renewable based on performance

• Termination: Either party can terminate with 30 days’ notice or fees in lieu

• No right to claim regular appointment through this contract

• Relaxation in qualifications or experience may be considered

Selection Process:

• Written test and/or interaction before Consultancy Evaluation Committee

• Shortlisted candidates will be called based on eligibility and relaxations

• No TA/DA for attending written test/interaction

• Final selection based on merit/ranking in the test or interaction
